Gas Tungsten Arc Tig Welding Technique

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding is the proper name for TIG welding. Well it's probably a proper name, but it takes too long to say ... and since hardly anyone called Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and most people still refer to it as TIG Welding, That's what I call it too. One of the biggest challenges with TIG welding is to find something to prop up the torch that will steady your hand is good enough to make the welds look good. If you are trying to shore up your hands too close to the welding, welding gloves do not offer much protection you are hot, your hands get hot, and you immediately get a blister, or you stop the weld. Each welder knows that stopping too often can make the weld that looks bad. Too many stops and starts to look like a patchwork quilt welding. (That is a good way to say Fidos Butt)

TIG gloves are thin ... and rightly so. They should be thin so you can feel the torch and filler rod and make the right move as needed. But to be very thin do not help in the heat department. TIG gloves are too thin for thermal protection, and you'll get burned if you are not careful. All you need is a finger heat-resistant heat shield that you can rest directly next to the welding heat. What if you never have to worry about your fingers and knuckles getting warmer, how to welding techniques that help you?

It helped me a lot.
For welding pipes and tubing for welding stainless, I do not leave home without it. It slips in my back pocket, and when I need it, I pulled it out and slip the middle finger or little finger and I am not afraid to be burned. I not only use it for good pipe welding, casting aluminum and cast iron manifold is really hot when you weld them. When I slipped on this Heat Shield, I can just prop up the hot metal and become stable as a rock.
